Rumblings around the future of Ben Brereton-Diaz, who is in the final year of his contract at the club, will probably continue for the remainder of the transfer window, but with the Chilean beginning the season in fine form, bids could become more tempting to accept.

The Verdict

Blackburn still have a way to go in terms of their squad building, if they are going to build on the impressive start that they have made.

17-year-old Ashley Phillips started alongside Daniel Ayala at centre back against the Baggies with Hayden Carter and Scott Wharton sidelined through injury.

Darragh Lenihan and Tyler Magloire have also left the club this summer, with no incomings at centre back it is clear that they will be hoping to address that position before the transfer window shuts.

Rovers were very successful in utilising the loan market last season and they could do so again after the positive start they have made.
