Gearing up for his first game in charge of Cardiff City, which is a trip to Charlton Athletic tomorrow, new manager Neil Harris has made an admission about his squad in his pre-match press conference.

Harris has been in the job since Saturday following the shock resignation of manager Neil Warnock, and the Bluebirds manager has been talking about the impact three of his squad's senior players have had already.

The 42-year-old manager said: "Young players want to impress but senior players can sometimes be a bit more edgy. Mozza (Sean Morrison) and Sol have been amazing and Marlon Pack. We’ve had some really good chats, I’ve got to know their family situations."

Bluebirds captain Morrison has been a regular under Harris' predecessor Warnock this season, appearing 14 times and scoring one goal despite spending a spell out injured lately.

Sol Bamba has just returned from his own injury, having been ruled out since March due to an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury, with the centre-back having featured from the subs bench in recent games.

Summer signing from Bristol City, Marlon Pack, has also been a regular so far during the campaign, appearing 10 times in the Championship and scoring one goal for the Bluebirds as he settles into life across the Severn Bridge.

Morrison, Bamba and Pack are just three of the many senior players within Harris' Cardiff squad.

The Verdict

Senior players at every football club are important, however they become even more important when a new manager takes over to try and guide a squad in the right direction.

It sounds as if the three senior players that Harris has singled out have been the main three that have helped the new manager settle in to the club as well as been a credit to themselves in training.
