West Bromwich Albion signed Lee Peltier from Cardiff City on deadline day.

Peltier, 33, had made 25 league appearances for Cardiff this season before making the switch to the Championship leaders.

The ex-Huddersfield, Leicester, Leeds and Forest full-back had been with Cardiff since 2015 and had been an ever-present in both the Championship and the Premier League for the club.

Speaking to Wales Online about the move, Harris showed a lot of respect for Peltier, and understood his decision to join West Brom:

"Firstly, great servant to the club, great to work with on the training pitch, a lot of time for Lee. You just get to a stage with senior players when you put a lot of things into the mix.

"But ultimately, we got to a situation on deadline day where Lee got an opportunity to move to West Brom, an hour away from his family home with his children, and to go to a team that’s top of the league and will likely go to play in the Premier League."

West Brom extended their lead at the top of the table to six points with a 2-1 win at Reading in midweek, and this weekend host Nottingham Forest.

Peltier is yet to make his debut for the Baggies having been sidelined, but could well be in Slaven Bilic's plans this weekend.

Cardiff meanwhile sit in 8th-place of the table having enjoyed a perfect February in league terms - they've won their last two games to nil and will look to continue that run at home to 22nd-place Wigan this weekend.

The Bluebirds sit just four points outside the top-six.

The verdict

Peltier is a solid Championship player and one who Cardiff fans will remember fondly, but Harris has been tasked with bringing through younger players, and with cutting down the wage bill too.

West Brom is a great move for the right-back though, and he'll help them to what'll likely be an impressive title-winning campaign.
