Ipswich Town have ushered in a new temporary era this week following the sacking of Paul Cook as manager.

Having been appointed in March, a month before the takeover of Gamechanger 20 Ltd, Cook was supposed to be the man to take the Tractor Boys up the EFL and back to the Championship.

But after a mass squad overhaul in the summer, the results didn't immediately come and as the Suffolk side headed into FA Cup action over the weekend they were in 11th position in the table - seven points behind the play-off spots.

And a goalless draw in Round Two of the cup on Saturday against fourth tier Barrow was the final straw as Cook was relieved of his duties, with ex-player John McGreal put in caretaker charge.

His first match comes up against Charlton Athletic tomorrow evening at The Valley - let's see how he could line his side up.

From what we know during  his time as Colchester United manager, McGreal favours a 4-2-3-1 formation and that's exactly what Cook was using so don't expect to see too much of an alteration there.

There could be a bit more defensive solidity added in the middle of the park as they do face an in-form side, so perhaps making the most of their depth in the engine room would be wise.

Sam Morsy, Lee Evans and Rekeem Harper all play in this line-up which means an attacking midfielder would have to drop out from their last league match with Crewe last week.

And after spending the last three matches on the bench, maybe it's time to give Kane Vincent-Young a start at right-back once again having only featured six times in League One this season.

There will be other players itching to impress and get a chance such as Joe Pigott but perhaps this is not the match to chuck him in a front two with ex-Addick Macauley Bonne.
