The 29-year-old, who had a loan spell with Boro earlier in his career, was set to be a free agent this summer after his contract with Nottingham Forest ran down.
However, the wide man has secured another Championship move, with Football League World revealing that Middlesbrough were keen to land Ameobi.
And, official confirmation of the transfer arrived today, as the Teesside outfit stated the ex-Newcastle man had agreed a contract for the next two years, with the club having the option to extend that by 12 months.

Given his pedigree, it’s fair to say that most Boro fans feel that this is a smart, low-risk move and that Ameobi could play a key role under Neil Warnock as Boro look to push for promotion next season.
