Hannibal Mejbri has highlighted which opponent in the Championship has been his favourite since joining Birmingham City on loan.

The playmaker is currently with the Blues on a temporary basis having signed from Manchester United last summer.

Hannibal has made 23 appearances in the league as part of John Eustace’s side, starting 14 times.

The Tunisia international has contributed four assists to the team in the league, with one of those coming in the victory over Stoke City earlier this campaign.

That has been cited as his favourite fixture of his stint with the Blues and he's claimed the old English adage of doing it on a rainy night in Stoke was later explained to him after his performance.

The 20-year-old took great pride in helping the side to a vital away win that now separates the two teams in the table.

When asked by Sky Sports which game was his favourite with Birmingham so far, he responded: "Stoke,"

"I liked that game.

"I did not know this at the time, but afterwards one of my friends told me that there is a saying in England. 'Can you do it on a cold and rainy night in Stoke?'

“We won and I gave an assist so I was really happy."

Hannibal assisted Harlee Dean’s goal, which gave the visitors an unassailable lead and a valuable three points for the side.

Birmingham are currently 18th in the table, immediately above Stoke, seven points clear of the relegation zone.

The Verdict

Hannibal has shown a lot of promise with his time on loan at Birmingham so far.

The performance against Stoke earned one of his highlights of the season as he set up Dean’s goal.

He will be hoping to contribute even more in the remainder of the campaign, with a first goal something he will surely like to achieve.

Birmingham will need these youngsters that have arrived on loan to play a key role in the rest of the season with Eustace’s side looking to avoid a slide into a relegation battle.
