Sheffield Wednesday have endured a tough season after successive top six finishes in the previous two campaigns, with the Owls languishing in the bottom half.

Already everyone connected with the club will be focusing on the summer with Jos Luhukay tasked with transforming the squad so they can get back to competing with the best in the league.

Given that, a high turnover of players is expected at Hillsborough which fans will surely welcome.

Yet, it's important to remember that the majority of these players have done well for the club over the years and a ridiculous injury crisis didn't help this season at all.

Here we look at three players that should stick around for next season...

The winger is injured and out of contract in the summer so a departure does seem likely.

However, at 32-years old, Wallace still has something to offer and can play in a number of positions which is a bonus.

Importantly, he is technically sound and capable on the ball so if Luhukay does try and encourage a more patient, passing game, the former Preston man will benefit.

Another who is out of contract, Nuhiu deserves an extension because of his fine recent form.

Since Luhukay took over the powerful striker has been superb, producing the sort of form that many hadn't seen him deliver before - consistently as well!

Sometimes players just benefit working with certain managers and this could be a perfect fit.

This is a bit of a risk, as Matias has only shown glimpses of his ability since arriving in Yorkshire.

However, the quality is clearly there and with a summer to work with the team without the pressure of needing results, Luhukay may find a place for the Portuguese attacker.

At 28-years old he should still have a lot to offer.
