Birmingham City are fighting for their lives in the Championship after defeat to local rivals Wolves last time out kept them just two points above the relegation zone.

As well as that, Barnsley, the side below them, have a game in hand which would take them above Garry Monk's men.

With that in mind, it promises to be another nervy end to the season for Birmingham's players and fans after they memorably survived on the last day against Bristol City last season.

However, if they do go down, the blame won't lie with Monk who has done very well with the West Midlands side since taking over from Steve Cotterill.

He was thrown in to a side that was seriously struggling but has got them playing with more quality and spirit.

Yet, he will surely want to make changes in the summer and there could be a big clear-out at St. Andrew's.

Here are three players we think should stick around though...

The big defender has had a seriously underwhelming season after arriving from Barnsley.

Roberts failed to establish himself as a first-choice under Monk although his chance will come in the coming games after Harlee Dean was sent off on Sunday.

Yet, he hasn't become a bad defender overnight and Monk should try and work with the player to get him back to those levels over the summer.

Lowe is another who has struggled to make an impact although he hasn't done that badly when he was given an opportunity.

He is disciplined, aggressive and can do a job over the course of a season.

His versatility is another reason why Monk should consider keeping the former Blackburn man.

The Blues fan is 31-years old and may be past his best, which makes a departure this summer more likely.

However, Gardner is a good figure to keep around the club as he knows exactly what it's about, has good experience and can still have a role to play on the pitch.

It's important to keep players who have an affinity with the badge.
