Bristol City midfielder Han-Noah Massengo has highlighted his Ashton Gate debut as the stand out moment in his career with the Robins so far.

The 18-year-old became the second most expensive signing in the South West club's history last summer when City paid Monaco a fee in the region of £8 million for him.

Massengo may not have been expecting to be as involved as he has been but due to injuries, player exits, and his impressive displays, the Frenchman has featured 25 times for the Robins this season.

There have been links to some of Europe's biggest clubs, such as Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea, but for the time being, the teenager remains firmly City's man.

He looks set to play his part if the Championship does indeed get back underway in June and will be hoping to help Lee Johnson's side secure a play-off place.

Speaking to the City website, Massengo reflected on what has been a fantastic start to life at Ashton Gate and highlighted his stand out moment so far.

He said: "It’s hard to say if I have done well.

“Some parts have been great and I still need to improve and that I can do better. It has been a good season so far but I just want to play these next nine games and so what can happen to us.

“My first game (v QPR) at Ashton Gate stands out for me. When I came on for 45 minutes, I already had my song and for me that was crazy! I never thought about having a song so that was great and I am very proud.

“I knew the Championship was going to be hard but you never know exactly what it is going to be like until you join. I didn’t know it was going to be as hard as it was but I was happy to come here. I saw it as a challenge.”

It looks as though it could be an interesting summer for City as far as their midfield is concerned.

Club stalwarts Marlon Pack and Josh Brownhill have both left the club in the last 12 months, while captain Korey Smith is out of contract this summer.

Summer signings Massengo and Adam Nagy will be heading into their first full pre-season with the Bs3 outfit, while Liam Walsh and Joe Morrell will both return from excellent loan spells.

Have Bristol City done these 15 things in the last 10 years? – Yes or no? Have a go now!

The Verdict

Massengo has been hugely impressive this term and displayed a maturity beyond his years.

The 18-year-old has been asked to play a bigger role than most thought he would and has shown glimpses of just what an exciting prospect he is.

The Ashton Gate faithful have taken him to their hearts and will love to hear that his standout moment so far is making his debut in front of the home crowd.
