After a disappointing start to the 2018/19 campaign for Bolton Wanderers their form has picked up over the second half of the season and they now look firmly on course to ensure survival during their maiden year back in the Championship.

Manager Phil Parkinson used the loan market wisely during the January transfer window and some decent form of late accumulated in the Trotters defeating high-flying Aston Villa recently.

Bolton have struggled financially in recent times and it would really represent a quality campaign for Parkinson if he can keep the club in the Championship by claiming a few more solid results between now and the end of the season.

Given the club's financial predicaments of late, it seems likely that the boss will be forced to work on a budget once again during the summer months. With that in mind, FLW writer Lee Clarke looks at three players who could be signed on free transfers by Parkinson during the summer...

The Nottingham Forest defensive midfielder has fallen way down the pecking order at the City Ground and seems unlikely to earn a new deal under Aitor Karanka.

Parkinson borrowed Zach Clough and Tyler Walker from the Reds in January and he could return to the Reds to pinch Vaughan on a free during the close season.

The Ipswich Town midfielder sees his short-term deal with the Tractor Boys come to an end in the summer and his Championship experience would make him a quality signing for the Trotters.

Glesson knows all about life playing in the Championship having spent several years at Birmingham City and he is sure to have his fair share of suitors come the summer.

The Cardiff City man is a versatile performer capable of playing in a number of positions and that quality alone seems to sit quite well with Bolton manager Parkinson.

The 33-year-old isn't getting any younger but his experience could be a useful asset in what is otherwise a youthful looking squad at the Macron Stadium.

Bolton fans, would you welcome these three players to the club? Let us know in the comments below!!!
