Usually, when a new manager joins a club, it is the fans of that club that take to social media to air their views.
Over the weekend that wasn’t the case, instead more Bradford City fans commented on Stuart McCall’s appointment at Scunthorpe United than supporters of the Iron.
McCall took over the reigns at Glanford Park after Nick Daws was dismissed last week following the 5-0 home reverse against Fleetwood.
Scunthorpe are 18th in League One, with five points from five games, having been in the top six at the end of last season.
McCall is a former Bradford City manager and player with a cult status at Valley Parade. He was sacked in January, despite guiding the Bantams to the top six themselves. They suffered a subsequent collapse and ended up in mid table.
The former Everton player has also previously managed Rangers and got Motherwell into Europe, but it is at Valley Parade he is most revered. It was Bantams taking to Twitter to express their delight at McCall’s appointment, wishing him luck.
Here’s a selection of their responses.
