Barnsley have confirmed that Matty James’ loan spell at Oakwell has ended, with the midfielder heading back to Leicester City.
James was brought to South Yorkshire on an initial three-month loan deal.
That brought 15 appearances, with the 29-year-old in the starting XI for 13 of those outings.
Can you name each of these 17 ex-Barnsley players just by looking at these 3 clues?
However, it has now been revealed that Valerian Ismael will now be without the midfielder heading out of January. He’s heading back to Leicester and Barnsley CEO, Dane Murphy, has pushed focus on the Tykes developing young talent, who now have an opportunity.
Ismael’s side are currently lighting up the Championship and sit ninth in the table. Only three points separate them and a place in the play-offs too.
News surrounding James’ exit, though, hasn’t sat well with supporters.
They are gutted to see the midfielder heading back to Leicester and can’t believe he’s not going to be part of the squad moving further into 2021.
