Charlton Athletic have confirmed that midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey has suffered an ACL injury in their recent win over Lincoln City, which will see him miss the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

The 27-year-old has made 38 appearances for Charlton this term, who are currently sat eighth in the League One table, and still in with a chance of forcing themselves into the play-off positions on the final day of this year's campaign.

Addicks boss Nigel Adkins reacted to the news of Forster-Caskey's injury blow, and labelled the midfielder as an 'important part' of the team.

"Jake has had a fantastic season and has been a really important part of our team. He has begun rehabilitation and will be provided with excellent medical care and attention throughout his recovery."

Forster-Caskey said: "It’s a tough blow to take. But a bump in the road does not end the journey. My focus now is to get back and be more influential than ever. The support of the fans means everything."
