Queens Park Rangers have confirmed that right-back Darnell Furlong has left the club to join up with fellow Championship outfit West Brom.
The 23-year-old, who is the son of former R’s favourite Paul, came through the ranks at Loftus Road and went on to play over 50 games for the club.
That included 25 appearances in the league last season, where Furlong generally impressed. However, the R’s have decided to move the player on, with the deal confirmed on their official site earlier today.
Whilst the club didn’t disclose the fee they received for the player, reports from elsewhere have suggested that the Londoners have received around £1.5m for Furlong.
Yet, the decision to sell has not gone down well with R’s fans, who felt the player had a lot to offer and they also had a strong connection with him as he had come through the academy.
Here’s some of the reaction to his exit on Twitter…
Good luck Darnell. One of the good ones for us. Honestly hope he goes a long way in his career. Gutted.

All the best Darnell. Always gave 100% and was a credit to the club. One of the ones who shouldn’t be leaving.

So much for current and previous chairmen pointing to Darnell as the ‘future of our club’
Would have accepted unambitious mid-table to see #QPR develop our youth.
Bewildering fog instead and deafening silence from the top
Rather think that @QPR has some explaining to do…

Been with us over 10 years yet gets the bleak standard farewell. Club is a joke atm and only going one way. I wish Darnell all the luck at West Brom
