Sheffield Wednesday
‘Gutted about this’, ‘Now the rest of them’ – Plenty of Sheffield Wednesday fans react to significant player update

Striker Manuel Hidalgo has issued a statement on Instagram to announce that he has terminated his contract with Sheffield Wednesday.
Hidalgo only joined Wednesday from Italian lower league side Triestina earlier this year, and had yet to make an appearance for the Owls senior side, instead forming part of the club’s academy setup.
But although his contract was not set to expire until the end of this season, Hidalgo has now brought a premature to his time in Europe.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday night, the 21-year-old revealed that he has terminated his contract with Wednesday in order to return to Argentina and spend more time with his family, citing the death of Diego Maradona as a reminder to enjoy important things in life such as family friends.
The attacker also went on to wish Wednesday well for the future, insisting that his move away from the club is not financially motivated.
Perhaps not surprisingly, that announcement from Hidalgo caught the eye of plenty of Wednesday fans, with a number keen to send their support to the Argentine, while some appeared hopeful for similar news on some of the club’s other players.
Here, we take a look at what some of them had to say.

Good on the kid. Unfortunately most of the current squad and footballers in general put money and fame before family and friends.
