Leeds United will not be signing Matej Vydra, with the club set to finalise a deal for Patrick Bamford instead in the next few days.

The Boro forward is set for a medical tomorrow ahead of a transfer to the Yorkshire club as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the Championship season.

And, Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay confirmed that the decision to sign Bamford means that any deal for Vydra is off.

The Czech international has been linked with a move to Elland Road all summer however terms could not be agreed between the player and club, with Vydra demanding a hefty salary.

Despite that, there was still a thinking a deal would be reached as the deadline approached but that will not be the case.

That prompted mixed responses from Whites fans, with some understandably upset that Leeds won't be getting the top scorer from the Championship last season.

Yet, others were pleased that the club refused to be pressured into offering Vydra the massive wages he wanted.
