The 23-year-old was highly-rated at Ashton Gate but he has had to spend the past few years away from the club to get regular football, firstly at Cheltenham before a very productive spell with Lincoln last season.
Many expected him to star for the Robins under Dean Holden in this campaign but the new boss hasn’t used Morrell, with the team playing superbly without him.
As a result, the midfielder has been allowed to move and the club announced on their official site that he has signed for the Hatters.
Given his potential, as well as his performances with Wales in recent days, it’s fair to say that many Bristol City fans aren’t too pleased with this decision. Here we look at some of the comments to the transfer update from Twitter…
Half a dozen first team appearances in 7 years, LJ having to beg his old man to take him on loan, and only due to injuries at Cheltenham did he get a chance there, did well at Lincoln, unproven in the Champ, and about 6th choice for us… Good luck Joe. No surprise he has gone.

For all of the people moaning about this one had to go and Nagy and Massengo were not getting domestic offers. Personally would’ve preferred to keep and loan him but he can only go on so many loans. All the best @JoeJMorrell

Shocker this. No doubt Ashton has a good sell on percentage and/or buy back option but still.
