All the talk in recent weeks has seemed to suggest a deal for Swansea City’s Dan James has been found with Manchester United, with the winger destined to join the Old Trafford club.

The Welsh winger has had an excellent season under Graham Potter, and the Premier League links are more than warranted.

The 21-year-old broke into the team this season and excelled, so he would be a great signing for any Premier League club - he has pace and energy in abundance, is young, a perfect work ethic and wouldn’t be too pricy.

Should Man City challenge United for him though, or is that one step too far?

We debate…

George Dagless

"Probably not.

"He's a good player but he's not getting in that City side yet, so I'd advise him to join a team where he'll actually play.

"He has more of a chance of getting in the United side this season coming and so it makes sense for all if City aren't involved."

Louie Chandler

“It could definitely be worth a look.

“At £15million it is not exactly big money for either side so even if it is just to stop their rivals getting their hands on him it could be worth doing.

“It would be very exciting to see what Pep could do with him as well given his ability to dramatically improve players individually as well.”

Lewis Steele

“If Sané leaves, definitely.

“The German has been linked with Bayern Munich, and with FFP I can’t see City being able to replace him without spending around £100m.

“Dan James would be excellent though as a super sub, and I think Guardiola could make him a star.

“Let’s not forget he tore City apart in the FA Cup, and previous players who have done that have signed for City, if you look at Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez.”
