It’s expected that Leeds United will field a £14m bid from Aston Villa to sign midfield star Kalvin Phillips in the coming weeks.

Leeds are in a vulnerable position in terms of their first-team stars this summer after missing out on promotion in the play-offs, which were eventually won by Aston Villa last month.

A report in the Telegraph has stated that Dean Smith is now looking to sign Phillips from Leeds, with a £14m bid set to be launched for the 23-year-old.

However, it is also noted that Leeds are ready to demand up to £20m for a player that thrived under Marcelo Bielsa last season in the Championship.

Phillips made 44 appearances for the Whites last season, with a large majority of those coming as a holding midfielder after Bielsa opted to build his side around the academy graduate.

Such is his importance to Leeds, it is fair to say that the Elland Road faithful were unimpressed with this report…
