Experienced midfielder Jonathan Greening has failed to secure a permanent contract at Championship side Rotherham, according to assistant manager Paul Raynor.

The 35 year old, who has had spells in the Championship with West Brom and Nottingham Forest, along with a loan spell at Barnsley, had been on trial at the club for a week at the Roundwood Sports Complex.

But despite playing parts in the friendlies against old side Nottingham Forest, Tamworth and Alfreton, Millers manager Steve Evans has decided against the signing of the long-haired midfielder.

Greening was a fans favourite during his time at the Hawthorns.

Greening, who has also had spells at York, Manchester United, Middlesbrough and Fulham, will wait and see whether there is any further interest in him, but may have to drop down to League One to find another home.
