Despite signing a host of players during the previous transfer window, Derby County could be about to bolster their squad this month by swooping for Tottenham Hotspur winger Jack Clarke.

According to Football Insider, the Rams are reportedly interested in signing the 19-year-old on loan until the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

Clarke returned to Tottenham earlier this month following an unsuccessful spell with Leeds United in which he only made three appearances in all competitions.

Having earned a move to Spurs last summer following a number of impressive performances for the Whites in the Championship last season, the winger will be aiming to get his development back on track by featuring regularly over the coming months.

Yet with first-team opportunities at Tottenham limited due to the presence of Lucas Moura and Heung-Min Son, Clarke may have to make a temporary exit from the club in order to receive sufficient playing time.

Football League World's Derby County fan pundit Lisa Howard has insisted that the club ought to consider signing the winger in the coming weeks.

"Derby have been linked with Clarke for a while now, he is a great young talent who I enjoyed watching when he was at Leeds.

"Clarke would add quality to our squad and pace which is what we need.

"I would like to sign him for sure."

Howard believes that Derby manager Phillip Cocu's ability to develop young players could benefit Clarke.

"I feel that Clarke would progress well under Cocu.

"You only have to look at our academy players who are now in the squad, and how well they have progressed this season.

"Cocu has vast experience in bringing younger player into a squad and helping with their progression."

The Derby fan pundit has suggested that the club needs to bolster their options up-front as well as in defence this month.

"I would like to sign a centre half, a centre forward like Dwight Gayle for example and a winger, which would be Clarke.

"The additions need to add quality to our squad and be better than what already have at our disposal."
