Hull City defender Angus MacDonald played his first hour of football for 556 days on Friday, following a turbulent period off the field.

The 27-year-old missed the majority of the 2018-2019 season after finding a blood clot in his calf, before being diagnosed with bowel cancer back in August 2019.

MacDonald was given the all-clear back in December, and on Friday evening pulled on the black and amber for the first time in over 18 months.

Despite Hull's under-23s losing out 2-0 to Birmingham City, MacDonald played an hour of the match and insists he is taking the positives from a personal perspective.

On Monday evening, the 27-year-old took to Twitter to post a picture of himself in action on Friday evening, along with the simple caption '556 days later.'

The defender arrived at the KCOM Stadium back in January 2018, from fellow Championship club Barnsley, and went on to make 16 appearances for the Tigers before his untimely health scares.

Rivalries aside it wasn't just Hull fans who were quick to send their good wishes to the 27-year-old, who received a number of messages of support following his recent post.

Here we take a look at some of the best reactions, as MacDonald continues his road back to first-team football...
