Wigan have completed the loan signing of Everton midfielder Kieran Dowell until the end of the season following his departure from Derby County, the club has confirmed.
Dowell was recalled from his loan spell at Pride Park on Friday evening following an underwhelming first half of the campaign, and he subsequently made the move to link up with the Rams’ Championship rivals Wigan.
The 22-year-old was widely expected to make a considerable contribution for Phillip Cocu’s Derby side after making the move from Merseyside, but he only made 10 league appearances for the club which included just two starts since August.
The attacking midfielder will now be hoping for more regular game time at the DW Stadium in the second half of the season, where he will be tasked with helping the 22nd-placed Latics secure their Championship status for next campaign.
Wigan took to Twitter to confirm news of Dowell’s arrival on Friday evening.
