Back to back wins over the Easter weekend secured Wigan Athletic’s Championship status, after a Good Friday victory over Leeds United was followed up by a 2-0 win over Preston on Bank Holiday Monday.
Latics manager Paul Cook can now start looking ahead confidently to next season, with the Barnsley defensive duo of Liam Lindsay and Ethan Pinnock both targets, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.
So would Lindsay and Pinnock prove good signings for Wigan?
“Wigan need this.
“Their defence has been a problem this season, with a number of costly errors not helping their cause in the fight for survival.
“Bringing in even just one of these would surely go some way to eliminating those concerns.”
“Yes, but I can’t see it happening.
“Barnsley, with respect, are the same size as Wigan if not bigger.
“The two players would be foolish to jump ship.
“Barnsley are on the up and I think they’ll be Championship next season.”
“The pair are arguably the two best centre-backs outside the top-two leagues at the moment so of course they would be good signings.
“Their partnership is immense too so getting both of them in is an even bigger perk.”
