Stoke City have signed experienced left-back Stephen Ward on a free transfer after the Irishman left Burnley.

The 33-year-old becomes the Potters sixth summer signing after they remarkably announced five new arrivals yesterday evening as Nathan Jones looks to rebuild his squad.

And, he is bringing in someone he knows very well here, with the boss having worked with Ward when the defender was on loan at Brighton in the 2013/14 season, when Jones was part of the backroom team with the Seagulls.

Ward will bring a lot of experience to the group and importantly he has also tasted success at this level in the past, having won the league with both Wolves and Burnley.

Given his recent pedigree of playing in the top-flight, it's fair to say that most Stoke fans are very pleased with their latest recruit and they also see Ward as the right type of character that they need.
