It was an interesting Deadline Day for Sheffield Wednesday back in the summer of 2016 where they confirmed a major signing.

It was the day where the Owls announced the signing of Adam Reach from Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee.

See how fans reacted to his arrival at the time, below.

Although the official fee was never publicised, it was thought to be a hefty price tag that Sheffield Wednesday paid to reach an agreement with Boro.

So, there was certainly a weight of expectation on his shoulders, but Reach is starting to show exactly why he is a player that came with a sizeable price tag.

The 26-year-old got off to a slow start at Hillsborough and scored a total of seven goals across a two-year-spell with the Championship heavyweight.

But he's showing the sort of form that Sheffield Wednesday would have hoped for nowadays and has played a starring role in Steve Bruce's side this season.

The Owls' good run of form has seen them mount a late charge for the play-off's heading towards the end of this year's campaign.

Reach has made a solid contribution to their impressive run of form and has eight goals and six assists to his name in a hugely impressive season under Steve Bruce's guidance.

If Sheffield Wednesday are to have any chance of reaching the play-off's before the conclusion of this season, then Reach will almost certainly be at the heart of it.

If the Owls are to win promotion, then the fee that they paid for Reach will seem like a bargain in the long-term.

The Sheffield Wednesday supporters had every reason to be excited by this signing and he could be the difference in their promotion run in.
