West Brom have adapted well to life back in the Championship on the whole, with Albion fourth in the league and certainly in the mix for promotion.

Even though he has now been sacked, Darren Moore deserves credit for building a squad that was capable of challenging.

However, he didn't get everything right, with one transfer in particular looking like a bad call.

The Baggies completed the surprising signing of Bakary Sako back in October and at the time it was a deal that many Albion fans supported.

In truth, you could understand why as Sako had played an important role in keeping Crystal Palace in the Premier League the year before.

And, perhaps more importantly, he'd proven himself to be a top player at this level with West Brom's fierce rivals Wolves in the past.

The fact they were landing a player who had been so popular at Molineux was maybe a another reason why fans were happy by his arrival.

But, Sako did not deliver at all in the blue and white stripes.

The Mali international managed just five appearances in the league, barely making a noteworthy contribution, before leaving to rejoin Palace in January.

The manner of his exit was surprising and it was a kick in the face for Albion who had picked him up when nobody else out there would take a chance on him.

That ended his very brief stay at The Hawthorns and it's fair to say it's a transfer that won't live long in the memory for the player or the fans.
