After a bitterly disappointing first half of the campaign, Stoke City were looking to put the reign of Gary Rowett behind them and appoint a new manager.

The Potters had failed to live up to expectations after a summer of huge spending, and with the Staffordshire club sitting what seemed a million miles off the Sky Bet Championship play-off places, a change was needed at the bet365 Stadium.

This is FLW Rewind, where we take a look at a certain event, take a look at the initial reaction and see how things panned out - here, we take a look at when Stoke City confirmed the appointment of Nathan Jones as the club's new manager.

Naturally, supporters were delighted at this appointment - Jones was a manager who was still relatively young, yet was such a huge success at Luton Town, where he guided the Bedfordshire club up from League Two and into the League One automatic promotion spots this season.

It was a huge statement of intent from the Potters, to lure Jones to the club despite doing such a sensational job at Kenilworth Road.

But it is fair to say that this appointment has failed to live up to expectations, just like Stoke's season thus far.

It was always going to be tough for Jones - he has gone in and immediately tried to get his players to play in a completely different style to what they played under Rowett, but it hasn't worked thus far.

The Welshman has won just one out of eight games at the helm of the club, with the Potters currently sitting 17th in the league table, 13 points off the top six.

A late 1-1 draw to rock-bottom side Ipswich at the weekend displayed the weak mentality in the Stoke dressing room right now, and you feel that a major overhaul is needed in the summer if the Potters are to become a success under Jones.
