Leeds United fought hard to find another victory when they faced Hull City last night, and were set on their way thanks to an own goal from Jordy de Wijs.

Leeds looked to extend their winning streak to seven games after winning in the West Yorkshire derby against Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon. They came up against a stuttering Hull City side that were looking for back-to-back victories after their win against Stoke City at the weekend.

The game struggled to burst into life until late in the second half when it suddenly opened up with the Whites opening the scoring thanks to an own goal from Hull centre-back Jordy de Wijs.

The goal came from Helder Costa latching onto a well-weighted Pablo Hernandez through-ball before the Portuguese winger fired a low cross into the box. De Wijs slid across to block the cross but could only divert it into the near post with ‘keeper George Long scrambling back to try to claw it away to no avail.

The goal was Leeds’ 32nd on the campaign where they have struggled to convert chances as efficiently as their counterparts in the division, and this own goal made for an interesting statistic after the game:
