Burton Albion supporters have expressed their delight over the club’s move to re-sign highly experienced and versatile winger Lloyd Dyer on a free transfer.
The Brewers confirmed via their official website on Wednesday that Nigel Clough has moved to re-sign Dyer on an initial short-term deal, with the 37-year-old having been training with Burton’s first-team squad as he looked to build up his fitness and he has now proven himself enough to earn a contract at the Pirelli Stadium.
Burton Albion supporters will already be very familiar with the qualities that Dyer possess, with the winger having played for the club previously in a two-year spell from 2016 to 2018, and he established himself as a fans favourite in that spell managing to score 15 goals in 84 appearances before departing at the end of the 2017/18 season.
Dyer’s arrival will be a welcome one to Clough as he looks to bolster his options in a bid to get Burton challenging for a play-off place, with the Brewers currently sitting in 14th place having collected 12 points from their opening nine League 1 matches, leaving them four points off the top six.
The 37-year-old could be involved in Burton’s clash against Premier League AFC Bournemouth in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night at the Pirelli Stadium, as the Brewers look to emulate some of the cup upsets they produced on the way to reaching the semi-finals of the competition last term.
