Nottingham Forest youngster Matty Cash continued his recovery from injury with an outing for the U23’s against Bolton Wanderers yesterday, as the midfielder closes in on a return to first team action.

The 20-year-old has yet to appear for the Reds this season after injuries have restricted him to the sidelines, but his outing at the Macron Stadium suggests the promising young star is nearing a return to full fitness.

Cash is just one of a number of talented stars on the books of the East Midlands based club, who face a tough trip to Derby County on Saturday to mark their return to league action following the international break.

The East Midlands Derby is one of the biggest clashes on the Championship calendar, and Mark Warburton will hope his side can continue their winning run, having beaten Sheffield United at the City Ground before the league broke up for international football.

The fixture probably comes too soon for Cash, who is lacking match fitness at this stage of his recovery, but fans can expect the midfielder to be back in action fairly soon.

Fans took to Twitter to respond to Cash’s Tweet confirming his outing at Bolton, with many excited to see the player back in action once again...
