Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong has been told he has no future at the club despite arriving back in the North East, according to reports from Sky Sports.

The club's record signing, who arrived from French side Lorient for a fee of £13.6million in 2016, hasn't made an appearance for the Black Cats since he was sent off against Cardiff City in January, but was pictured at Newcastle Airport on Saturday.

The club have been advised that the Gabon international is on Tyneside somewhere, but are not expecting him back at training having failed to show for pre-season after a £7m transfer to Torino fell through

Sunderland boss Jack Ross has recently said: "There has been no contact with me - in terms of me having him back in the playing squad, we have gone a long way beyond that point, I think".

Here, we discuss the situation...

George Harbey

This is hardly surprising.

Ndong hasn't featured for Sunderland in almost a year, and now he hasn't found a club he seems to be coming back with his tail between his legs.

I think it's about time they release Ndong, to get him off the wage bill.

George Dagless

Ndong has had a stinker in the northeast and this is no shock at all.

I'm pleased that Sunderland are getting rid of these players gradually as they deserve better as a club.

Let's hope that they don't make repeat mistakes now.

Louie Chandler

Great news for Sunderland.

It's brilliant to see Ross and the rest of club clamping down on this sort of behaviour and hopefully it is something we see more.
