Blackpool have avoided a 12-point deduction from the EFL this afternoon, meaning they're not going to be fighting for their lives over the next five matches.

They were the subject of a hearing held to decide whether they should be punished in light of recent developments at the club. Despised owner Owen Oyston was ousted, but it meant putting the club into receivership.

Their new owners are looking to put them back on track and with fans flocking to Bloomfield Road now the tyrannical Oyston has gone, the future looked positive, if they could avoid punishment.

Despite receivers being appointed, the EFL have acknowledged that it isn't under usual circumstances, saying in a statement that they "agreed that the appointment of the receiver is not material to the club's ability to fulfil its obligations as a member club and as a result should not be regarded as having suffered an insolvency event, meaning a 12-point deduction is not applicable".

It's music to the ears of Blackpool fans who feared that their slim play-off hopes would be dashed completely if they were docked points. It would have put them onto 46, just three clear of Southend in the final relegation spot.

Instead, they can now look forward to the future after a long fight to get their club back. Today's news has been warmly welcomed by these fans on Twitter.
