According to reports from TEAMtalk, Middlesbrough are among a host of clubs interested in signing Jack Clarke on loan.

The winger has recently had his loan spell at Leeds United cut short by parent club Tottenham Hotspur, after making just one league appearance for the Whites this season.

The young attacker is on the lookout for a new club this month as he looks to gain experience and regular game time elsewhere, with Boro reportedly in the chase for his services.

The Teesside club have already been active in the transfer market this month, signing Patrick Roberts and Lukas Nmecha both on loan from Manchester City.

Here, we discuss whether Clarke would be a good addition for Boro...

Jordan Rushworth

"Wherever Clarke ends up this month he needs to ensure that it is a place where he will be able to get regular game time during the rest of the season, and given Middlesbrough’s problems with injuries, he should be able to make a real contribution to Boro.

"Middlesbrough are in need of some more options in the wide positions, and Clarke would offer Boro some more quality in the final third which has been an issue for Woodgate’s men at times this campaign, and with Marcus Browne potentially heading out on loan this month he would provide more attacking options.

"Boro have been slowly improving over the last few months under Woodgate, and they are beginning to show more signs in the final third and give their attacking players the ball in more promising positions, and Clarke could benefit from coming into a side with renewed confidence.

"This potential move would seem like a good fit for both parties, given Clarke would likely be given the game time that he was not able to get at Leeds United, and Middlesbrough would secure another potential threat in the final third."

Chris Gallagher

"It would be a great move for all parties.

"After a tough start to the season, things have really picked up for Boro in the past few weeks and the signings of Lukas Nmecha and particularly Patrick Roberts show they mean business.

"However, Woodgate still needs more and finding another creative option in the final third has to be a priority and Clarke fits the bill. He is a quick, direct player and has shown with Leeds in the past that he can thrive at this level.

"From Spurs' perspective, after a frustrating six months at Elland Road, they just need to send the teenager to a club where he will play every week and that should happen at Boro. Woodgate is also trying to encourage a more attacking style and Clarke would benefit from that."

Josh Cole

"This could turn out to be a shrewd signing by Middlesbrough if they are able to get a deal over the line for Clarke this month.

"Whilst the teenager struggled during his loan spell at Leeds earlier this season, he has illustrated in the past that he is more than capable of delivering the goods at Championship level.

"Given that Boro currently find themselves 16th in the second-tier standings, it is clear that they need to bolster their attacking options in order to have a chance of gate-crashing the play-offs in May.

"Therefore, by swooping for Clarke, the Smoggies could potentially bolster their hopes of achieving this particular goal providing that he is able to hit the ground running at the Riverside Stadium."

George Harbey

"I think Middlesbrough would be the perfect destination for Clarke to play his football in the second half of this season, after what has been a hugely underwhelming campaign for the player thus far.

"People forget just how good he was when he was coming off the bench for Leeds last season, scoring some very important goals at Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, and he was a key player up until taking ill at the Riverside.

"I feel that Boro lack natural width in their squad aside from Marcus Tavernier, and that is something that Woodgate is clearly trying to address having signed Roberts on loan from Manchester City.

"Clarke will be determined to prove his doubters wrong and impress Jose Mourinho, and he will be eager to play to the best of his ability wherever he goes - that can only be beneficial for Boro."
