Scott Hogan is doubtful for Birmingham City's upcoming weekend clash with Sheffield Wednesday at St. Andrew's.

The 27-year-old has been in impressive goalscoring form since joining on loan from Aston Villa, netting three goals in four matches for Pep Clotet's side.

But the Republic of Ireland international picked up an ankle injury in the 1-1 draw with Brentford last weekend, which came after he was challenged by Ethan Pinnock.

The Blues have been sweating on Hogan's fitness all week, and now, speaking to the press via the official club website, Clotet has confirmed that he is doubtful for this weekend's clash.

He said: "I've been working on other options because he's still a doubt and we don't know if he will be available. He's been working on his ankle, but a decision will have to be made tomorrow or Saturday."

It would obviously be a blow for Blues if Hogan doesn't play this weekend - they will be looking to pick up all three points against former boss Garry Monk, and secure another positive result.

Hogan has found a new lease of life since joining Birmingham, but this injury blow could prove to be detrimental for Birmingham.
