Aston Villa ground out a 2-1 win over rivals West Brom in their Championship play-off semi-final first leg this afternoon.

The Villans looked like being on their way to a home loss after Dwight Gayle capitalised on Glenn Whelan's mistake to put the Baggies ahead.

However, a spirited second half display saw the Villans fight back with goals from Conor Hourihane and Tammy Abraham giving them the advantage, before a late red card for Albion goalscorer Gayle really turned the tie in Villa's favour heading into the second leg.

There were a few good performances too from the Villa XI which stood out, and one man in particular who put in a solid display was flying right sided star Ahmed Elmohamaday, who put in an assured display for Dean Smith's charges.

Indeed, the popular Villa star took to Twitter following the game to share some of his thoughts following the game, and he seems well chuffed with the win.

Of course, it's not just Elmohamady who is happy with the victory, as plenty of Villa fans took the time out to reply to the defender with seemingly positive comments in the main towards him.

With that then, we took a look at just what the Villa fans had to say in response to Elmohamaday's update...
