Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty is set for a loan move to League One side Sunderland for the remainder of the season according to The Scottish Sun.

The report claims that Phil Parkinson's side have beaten Charlton Athletic to his signature, and they look to strengthen their squad ahead of their promotion bid this term.

The Black Cats are currently sat seventh in the League One table, and are just a single point adrift of the play-off places, something which they'll have in their sights after a recent upturn in results.

Docherty has struggled for game time with Steven Gerrard's side this season, and has made just six appearances in all competitions for the Gers.

The midfielder scored ten goals and was on hand to provide 11 assists for Shrewsbury Town in a hugely successful loan spell last season in League One.

Plenty of Sunderland fans took to social media to issue their thoughts on Docherty's seemingly imminent arrival at the Stadium of Light.
