Blackburn Rovers will be hoping to end the 2021/22 campaign on a positive note when they head to St Andrew's to face Birmingham City on Saturday.

Rovers were eliminated from contention for a play-off place last weekend following their defeat to AFC Bournemouth and will now need to start their preparations for another year in the Championship.

One of the individuals who is expected to start against Birmingham is Thomas Kaminski.

The goalkeeper, who has featured in 43 of the club's 45 league games this season, has managed to produce some encouraging performances at this level for Rovers.

As well as claiming a respectable total of 13 clean-sheets in the second-tier, the 29-year-old has managed to average a SofaScore match rating of 6.90 in this particular division.

Asked to name who he believes has been the club's unsung hero this season, Blackburn Rovers' FLW fan pundit Toby Wilding has admitted that Kaminski's displays at times have been very impressive.

Speaking to FLW, Wilding said: "I'm going to go for Thomas Kaminski here for the unsung hero.

"I think if you look at any sort of win or any sort of big draw that Blackburn have picked up over the course of the season, there is a very strong chance that at some point during that match Kaminski has made at least one, if not more big, significant and quite often spectacular saves that have really kept Rovers in that particular game.

"Without those sorts of contributions from him, they probably wouldn't have been in quite as strong of a position as they have managed to get themselves into this season.

"I think as well as that, again, he's another one who shows a great amount of passion and commitment for the club which can be really important in terms of helping those young players, especially with the command that he can exert over his penalty area at times.

"So, with that in mind, he's very much an unsung hero for me and that sort of shows how important it was for Blackburn to secure him to a new contract long-term earlier this year and that looks particularly impressive business when you consider Tony Mowbray's comments about interest from abroad in the keeper as well."
