As quoted by Sunderland's official website, manager Simon Grayson has tipped Callum McManaman and Jonny Williams to improve his side this season.

The men from the Stadium of Light have not had the best start to life back in the Championship this season and Grayson will know that things need to pick up if they are to be in the play-off chase.

For sure, they are a bit away from that right now but they do have some good players and the former Preston man is tipping the pair that signed on Deadline Day to really have an impact as they bed in and get used to the club.

Certainly, McManaman is an entertaining, old-school winger that can beat a man and should excite whilst Williams has a bit of a creative edge and should make chances.

Both, then, have the ability to help Sunderland get some results and that is exactly what Grayson is tipping them to do.

He said:

"They will make us better without a shadow of a doubt. We will be in a better place in a few weeks, months with the group we have got."

For sure, then, the Black Cats will be hoping that the pair have a good impact with their next chance to fire them to victory coming tonight against Nottingham Forest.

The Verdict

The men from the Stadium of Light have not had the best start but there is some talent in that squad and so they shouldn't be too worried about things right now.

Indeed, there is still some bedding in to do for the squad and manager and so panic stations should not be getting reached just yet.
