You just get the feeling that the transfer window in the Championship this summer is going to come to a rather hectic crescendo.

The Championship - though it's always competitive - is looking tighter than ever right now and that is surely set to mean that clubs are going to be desperate to try and put together strong squads for the coming months.

For sure, with the early surprises of Cardiff, Ipswich and Nottingham Forest getting near the top of the table, pretty much anyone can surmount a charge and Simon Grayson is expecting Sunderland to be busy in their quest to do that.

Indeed, the Black Cats have been active in the window already but it seems as though there is still plenty more to be done at the club with Grayson being quoted as saying via the Sunderland Echo:

"We’re still trying to bring players into the group, we’re in a decent position but I think next week will be one the busiest ever, not just for us."

Exciting stuff for Sunderland fans at the moment, then, and that certainly makes a nice change after a few seasons of pessimism.

The Verdict

Simon Grayson has been really impressive this season so far for Sunderland and it's likely he's got some tricks up his sleeve in this final few days of the window.

For sure, he'll have his eye on a number of players to try and get in and it's going to be good fun watching on and seeing who he manages to sign.
