Hull City are currently well in the thick of a relegation scrap under Grant McCann but the manager is not looking over his shoulder just yet, and is targeting wins to see his side move up the table once again.

The Tigers have been struggling immensely in 2020 as they have recorded just one win which came on New Year’s Day against a Sheffield Wednesday side suffering from a similar slump.

In the latter stages of 2019, it looked as if Hull could be on the verge of mounting an outside push for the play-off places but the opposite has happened since then as they have plummeted down the table and now find themselves just three points clear of the relegation zone with 10 games to play.

A huge list of injuries and key players leaving the club has not helped their cause at all and this has damaged their squad all over the pitch.

However, Grant McCann is remaining confident of his side’s abilities going into the final 10 games and is looking to pick up some all-important wins, starting at Stoke City on Saturday. He had this to say to the club’s official website: “We’ve been on a bit of a dodgy run, but we know we’ve got a good team with good players. Every game is important.

“Ten games to go, and my message to the players is ‘how many can we win?’

“Just because we’ve lost some games doesn’t mean we rip the book up. I’m really excited for the future with this group of players.

“I’m focused on one thing and that’s doing well for this football club and this group of players."

A win would be a massive confidence booster for McCann and his side to move six clear of relegation, but a loss would see them plundered even deeper into trouble.

Can you take on this Hull City left-foot/right-foot challenge?

The Verdict:

The Tigers are in need of a win to get away from the relegation scrap and while McCann is ignoring it, they are very close to being in trouble.

He’s been dealt an awful hand since the turn of the New Year and it’s no surprise that without a large chunk of his squad, he’s struggling.

Stoke will not be an easy game for Hull as they too are fighting for their lives and need the wins to get away from the bottom three.

Going forward, McCann has to face up to the situation his squad finds itself in, but remaining positive might just be what the club needs in the coming weeks.
