Swansea City head coach Graham Potter had claimed that despite being grateful to Birmingham City, he is relishing his return to St Andrew's this evening.

In a statement on the Swansea City website, the 43-year-old manager proclaimed that he will be forever thankful and appreciative of all that the Blues did for his footballing career, on and off the field.

Potter stated: “I am looking forward to going back. Birmingham City were the club that gave me my opportunity. You need someone to give you that chance and I will always be grateful for that.

“I started there as a 14-year-old and I made my debut at 17. It was not a vintage Birmingham City team at the time – that’s probably why I got into it!

“But I know from experience that St Andrew’s is a powerful place when the crowd get behind the team. It will be tough for us, but I am looking forward to it.”

Potter made his first-team debut for Birmingham City in the 1992-93 campaign, going on to play 32 times for his boyhood side.

The Swansea head coach will be facing an unpredictable Blues side led by former Swans manager Garry Monk.

The Verdict

Both Graham Potter and Garry Monk will be looking to secure a victory over their former sides tonight.

The Swans head coach will be looking to add to their two wins from their opening two Championship fixtures, whilst Birmingham will be hoping to pick up their first win of the league campaign.

Potter, whilst being civil on the outside, is likely to be brimming with confidence as he goes up against his former side in tonight's fixture.
