Graeme Jones has stated that his Luton side must 'man up' and 'get on with it' after they were humiliated in a 7-0 defeat to Brentford this weekend.

The Hatters were thrashed in an embarrassing manner at Griffin Park this weekend, and conceded goals all the way through the 90 minutes.

It's a result that raises massive concerns for Jones who has now seen his side win just one of his last seven games, whilst not being able to keep a clean sheet since mid-October.

Jones has expressed that his squad now have to man up and be the ones that take responsibility for their own individual performances.

Speaking to Dunstable Today, Jones said: “They have to man up and get on with it.

“We’ve protected them enough, they have to take responsibility for their performance in their area.

“I’ll repeat myself, we had the same 11 players with the same tactics in the last three games, we got beat 7-0, so I’ll take responsibility, no problem, but everybody does at the club, that’s where we are.”

The Verdict

Jones has every right to say what he is saying and to be very angry with the team. It really was an awful defeat for the Hatters and they have to find a way of bouncing back with some more points to ensure that they give themselves every chance of staying in the division.

He needs them to be on their game, especially next week when they take on a Wigan site who sit just one place below them in the relegation zone. A win for the Latics would take them above Luton, and push the Hatters into the bottom three.

Now is the time to stand up and show they can succeed at this level. Confidence will be low, but Jones will know how important this next set of fixtures are for the season.
