Luton Town manager Graeme Jones has confirmed the club are interested in signing Belgian goalkeeper Hendrik Van Crombrugge.

Speaking to Luton Today, the Hatters manager did indeed confirm he is interested in looking at the 26-year-old stopper, who he knows from his time working over in Europe previously.

The Hatters are interested in adding to their squad in the coming weeks as they look to prepare for life in the Championship following a superb season last year which saw them romp to the League One title.

And while Jones confirmed he is happy with current 'keepers Marek Stech and James Shea, he didn't shy away from talk about Van Crombrugge.

“He is somebody that we’re interested in, somebody that I know from my time in Belgium. Again we’ve got a number of options in that position, I was delighted with James Shea today and Marek Stech, so we’ll continue looking and we’ll continue assessing what we’ve got and we’ll take it from there." he said.

The Belgian goalkeeper has recently been called up to the full national team by manager Roberto Martinez following some impressive displays for current club KAS Eupen.

Jones did indeed say the process to sign any new player was ongoing, and said things were '24/7' for him in terms of looking to bring new players into Kenilworth Road over the summer.

The Verdict

This would be quite the coup really when you look at the pedigree of player we are dealing with.

You don't get called up to a massively talented Belgian national team without having something about you, and Van Crombrugge clearly does have something about him.

Luton can be pleased that they are even being linked with this sort of player, and he'll no doubt be a welcome addition if he does indeed sign on the dotted line.
