West Brom winger Grady Diangana insists that he's not surprised by the fantastic start to the season that Albion have made.

Slaven Bilic's side currently lead the way in the Championship and they have played some superb football in the opening third of the campaign.

And, Diangana, who has been crucial to that, told the official site that he expected to be joining a side that wanted to compete for automatic promotion.

"We expected to be good this season. We play good football, we defend well and we attack well. We’re a very good team so we’ve always had high hopes and high standards for ourselves.

"There are a lot of different types of players but we are all gelling well. The chemistry is good and the feeling in the dressing room is really good. Everything is going well."

The 21-year-old has contributed with four goals and four assists so far this season, quickly establishing himself as a regular under Bilic and his form had prompted talk that West Ham could bring him back in January.

The verdict

This clearly highlights the confidence around The Hawthorns right now and the players have a real belief that they will return to the Premier League.

That stems from Bilic and he deserves a lot of credit for the immediate impact he has managed to make with the Baggies.

As for Diangana, he will be delighted with how this loan spell has gone and he appears to be thoroughly enjoying his time with West Brom and fans will hope he stays for the season.
