Nottingham Forest striker Lewis Grabban has suggested that the way in which Sabri Lamouchi sets his side up, could offer an explanation as to why he has been scoring more on his travels this season than at the City Ground.

Grabban bagged the all important winning goal against rivals Derby County on Saturday, with the striker pouncing on a mistake from the visitors to calmly put the Reds into the lead - and that goal moved him onto seven Championship goals from 15 games for the campaign so far.

However, until Saturday he had scored just once at the City Ground so far this season, with his other five strikes all coming on Nottingham Forest's travels, with the Reds able to find more space in behind opposing defences away from home - and Grabban will be hoping to now start adding more goals at home following his vital contribution against Derby.

Speaking to the Nottingham Post following Nottingham Forest's 1-0 win against Derby on Saturday, Grabban suggested that the Reds' counter-attacking style could explain why he has scored more goals away from home than at home so far, saying: "Maybe it's a reason. It suits the team, the way we've set up. It worked today as we could counter on their mistakes.

"We've got a great away following and they've seen me score more than the home fans this season.

"It was nice to get a goal on a day like this. "

The Verdict

Grabban is probably right to suggest that the reason behind him finding more joy in front of goal away from home than at the City Ground, is down to the way in which Lamouchi sets his side up to play on the counter, with the Reds able to allow their opponents to have more of the ball and sit back looking to break on their travels.

At the City Ground, though, opposing teams are more reluctant to commit bodies forward in attack, and there is more pressure on Nottingham Forest to retain possession and look to put their opponents under pressure in the attacking third - and that means there is less space for Grabban to work with in behind defences.

Against Derby though, Grabban showed his willingness to work hard for the team and press opponents into mistakes, and then he showed his obvious quality in front of goal to register the winner - and Forest will be needing the striker to start finding the net more at home if they are to build on their win on Saturday.
