Middlesbrough had a tougher campaign than they'd have liked but they've earned their shot at promotion via the play-offs.

Whilst we wait to see how they get on there, though, with Aston Villa standing in their way to start with, we're taking a look back at each club's season in the regular Championship campaign.

Time, then, to take a look at the Boro, and what an up and down year it was:

Under Garry Monk and at the start of the campaign, many felt Boro would challenge Wolves up at the top.

As Steve Gibson said in our Best Quote award, he wanted to smash the league. Inconsistency under Monk saw him lose his job and play-off hopes under scrutiny, though, before Tony Pulis came in to help turn things around.

Adama Traore has really excelled in this second half of the campaign, too, and he duly wins our Player of the Year award with him also helping in the Performance of the Year as Boro tormented Leeds 3-0.

The hat-trick hero in that match, Patrick Bamford, wins Goal of the Year for his classy turn and finish against Sunderland in the 3-3 at the Stadium of Light whilst unsung hero Darren Randolph wins Signing of the Year.

Finally, our Young Player of the Year award goes to Dael Fry. He may not have always been in the side but, if he gets the chance, Boro will have another top defender on their hands with him.
