Charlton Athletic have found a new manager with Nigel Adkins taking charge of the League One club.

The club have confirmed this morning that Adkins has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal at the Valley, and he will take his first training session this morning.

Charlton were on the lookout for a new manager following Lee Bowyer's departure to Birmingham City earlier this week, with Adkins now taking the reins.

After making his first managerial appointment as owner, Thomas Sandgaard said: "I believe Nigel is the perfect personality, with the perfect background and the perfect experience to get us to where we want to be. Both Nigel and I want us to playing football in the Premier League and I can’t wait to see us there."

Charlton sit just inside the play-off places in League One, and Adkins will be looking to use his experience to guide them to promotion this term.

The 56-year-old has won promotion four times in his managerial career - twice with Scunthorpe United, and twice with Southampton.

He had been out of work since the end of the 2018/19 season, after leaving Hull City upon the end of his contract at the KCOM Stadium.

Here, we take a look at Charlton fans' reactions to his appointment at the Valley...
