A number of Birmingham City supporters have been bemoaning the performance of midfielder Ivan Sunjic following the Blues’ 3-0 defeat at home against Bristol City on Saturday.

Aitor Karanka’s side headed into the game needing to secure a vital win that could have put some distance between themselves and Rotherham United who were not in action. However, it was a performance that in the end was never going to be good enough for them to get any sort of positive result with far too many sloppy individual errors having been made.

Quiz: Have each of these 24 ex-Birmingham City players retired or not?

Aleksandr Hleb?

One player who had a poor afternoon was midfielder Sunjic, who was not able to provide enough protection in front of the back four at times and was also guilty of giving the ball away a little too often. The £6 million signing needs to show more than he was able to here and the 24-year-old will have to improve his performances in the coming vital matches.

Sunjic was dribbled past on two occasions and he was also able to make just one tackle and one interception. While on the ball he lost possession 24 times and although he made two key passes he was only able to average a passing accuracy of 64% (Sofascore). That shows in both aspects of his performance he was found wanting.

Many Birmingham fans were frustrated with the midfielder’s performance and some were suggesting that he does not offer enough quality for the Blues consistently.

Here, we take a look at some of the best reactions on social media…
