‘Got out of jail’ – Plenty of Sunderland fans issue thoughts on key figure’s future after latest win

Sunderland beat 10-man Gillingham on Saturday, as they ran away 2-0 victors thanks to goals from Chris Maguire and Lynden Gooch.
It was a professional performance from the Black Cats, and one that helps them to push up the league table as they eye promotion to the Championship at the third time of asking.
Manager Phil Parkinson has been under pressure in recent weeks after a defeat to Portsmouth and a lacklustre draw away at Rochdale in the week.
However, the win would have done his confidence the world of good, as well as the rest of the Sunderland team, who are heading into a crucial period of the season.
Parkinson will be hoping this can become a common occurrence and he can slowly start to get the Sunderland supporters more trusting of his philosophies.
Here’s how the Black Cat’s fans reacted to the manager after victory on Saturday…

Also, forgot to mention how chuffed I was that the boys for #SAFC won 2-0 yesterday although a lot of fans still calling for Parkyolas head. Let’s just try and kick on again from this win, I feel like Parkinson doesn’t help himself with making subs too late

Don't know who I hate more Boris Johnson or Phil Parkinson

So relieved to have won today , got to say I had my doubts beforehand .🔴⚪ #SAFC still think Parkinson is a 🎃

Are we going to cancel the season and go into the play offs on a points per game basis? Might be the best #SAFC can hope for under Parkinson

Not said much about #safc lately but it seems to me that the days of playing defensive football and trying to hit on the break are over. Successful teams play all-out attack. #Parkinson is not the man for that. #sunderland

Thank god for that. Wasn’t pretty but huge result for #SAFC though I did think Parkinson got out of jail a bit.
The 2️⃣ turning points were the saved pen from Berge (good for confidence) & the red card.
PP still waits too long to change things but you won’t not take a win! ❤️🤍

A fortunate win wont do much for Parkinson in most fans eyes. Sending off and a pen to beat that side. Very 'paper over the cracks' feel about today #safc
